Away From it All (AFIA)

Away From It All is a project which provides much needed holidays for families who need to get away and have a break but they do not have the means to go.
The caravans are on the East Coast at Haven holiday sites. They  are beautiful and very well equipped and the sites have many amenities for the families to enjoy. We also give the families a hamper of food to take with them.
AFIA works purely for the benefit of individuals and families within our Diocese and is funded only by its Deanery and Branch fund raising events.

AFIA has raised 158% of income budget and spent 95% of its expenditure budget in 2022.

Mothers’ Union members arranged a week’s break away from it all for the family on the beautiful Welsh coast. “I cannot articulate the benefit we have gained from this trip,” says Claire. “We were broken and felt repaired. Your kindness and generosity reminded us that we are not alone, but that we are blessed. Sometimes it is hard to stay positive and my faith has been truly tested but we are galvanised again.”

Raising funds for AFIA can help more families have the support they need to take a break, have adventures and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Read the thank you letters we received …

Hello,

So sorry for the late update and thanks on our holiday. We have just been so busy since with washing and sorting kids back for school on Monday! We would just again like to thanks all that was involved in funding our family holiday to Haven.

We overall had a pleasant visit The caravan was absolutely beautiful and clean the kids enjoyed it very much. We also did a few fun activities on the park including swimming which was our favourite. The private beach was lovely and we often had a walk up in the evening for a foot splash in the sea. We had an odd day in Cleethorpes, playing bowling and having fish and chips, also plenty of doughnuts!

Honestly we cannot express how grateful as a family we are that we had a lovely opportunity like this.

I hope all of you are well

Many, many, thanks.

Dear MU

First of all, I would like to thank you for your help and arranging this trip for our family. We had wonderful week with my family after long time since we had a holiday. We enjoyed every single moment in the caravan itself and inside the Haven Park as well as touring in the Cleethorpes countryside.

As you know I have a special need child with severe autism, who required 2:1 support. I cannot describe how she was so happy. Usually, we are so limited where we can go as she is so hard to manage as she has no sense of danger. Having her with my other kids in Haven Park in a secure area was a great experience.  The holiday offered us a lot of happiness, and bringing all family members together whatever their different abilities.

Therefore, I would like to ask you kindly considering our family in the future for another holiday if possible.

Once again, thank you very much. Much appreciated
